Intensive Care Department

  •  ICU involves 3 units as follows:
    • Medical intensive care unit (MICU) 6 beds, for neurological, renal, hepatic & other medical diseases.
    • Post Operative Care Unit (POCU) 10 beds supplemented with haemodialysis & haemofilteration section.
    • Coronary care unit (CCU) 6 beds, supplemented with cardiac catheterizetion lab, echocardiography, & treadmill ambulatory B.P & Holter Monitor.
  • This department is characterized by:
    • Continuous availability of medical staff and consultants from both the admitting specialty and intensive care staff.
    • Minimum nurse: patient ratio of 1:2 together with a head nurse - in - charge for 24 hours.
    • This department has defined categories for multi system monitoring and support:
  • Mechanical ventilation support by all up to date modes.
  • Basic respiratory monitoring: 24 hours laboratory services for arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests & physiotherapy.
  • Circulatory support. Cardio-pulmoroy resuscitation team and
    facilities for post - arrest care.
  •  Neurological, renal & hepatic support.
